Solid Diagnostic Service Call

For $110, we’ll professionally diagnose the issue affecting your heating or cooling system. This service is for equipment that isn’t working properly; it is not preventative maintenance. Preventative maintenance is performed on operational equipment.

The diagnostic fee applies even if you choose to have us complete the repair, unless a current promotion states otherwise. If no repair is performed during the visit, the $110 diagnostic fee is due, and we’ll provide a receipt.

If a Florida-licensed contractor diagnosed your system within the past 15 days, show us their receipt and we’ll provide a second-opinion diagnosis for $55—half the standard fee. Without proof of the prior diagnostic, the regular $110 fee applies.

At Five Star Heating and Air, we offer comprehensive preventative maintenances to help you keep your HVAC system running smoothly and efficiently. Our services include visual inspections of the indoor unit coil and blower assembly to ensure that restrictive debris are not prevalent, along with vacuuming the outdoor unit of leaves and providing a condensate drain line trap vacuuming service. Please note that some labor-intensive units may incur a $125 fee for properly disassembling and rinsing the condenser coils with fresh water. We also check capacitors, contactors, refrigerant temperatures, and pressures, and visually inspect to see if high voltage wires are rubbing. This proactive approach helps catch issues before they become major failure points, ensuring your HVAC system is in top-notch condition.

The cost is $180.00 per system plus any additional parts, services, or refrigerant. Restrictions apply, and detailed in-depth air handler coil and blower assembly pull and cleans are a separate service.

In-Depth Air Handler Cleaning & Coil Pull-and-Clean

When preventative maintenance isn’t enough, Five Star Heating and Air LLC offers in-depth cleaning to remove accumulated dirt and buildup from your indoor evaporator coil, blower assembly, drain pan, and drain line. Cleaning these components can help improve airflow, heat transfer, and system performance.

Service Pricing

Evaporator coil pull-and-clean: Starting at $395. The coil is removed and cleaned outside the unit. Filter drier replacement is additional.

16-cubic-inch refrigerant filter drier replacement: $240.

Blower assembly pull-and-clean: Starting at $195 for most assemblies, or $225 for variable-speed blower assemblies.

Full in-depth service starts at $830 for the coil pull-and-clean, filter drier replacement, and standard blower assembly cleaning. With a variable-speed blower assembly, the starting total is $860.

The full service also includes drain pan and drain line cleaning, with drain line detergent gel to help reduce slime buildup—a $40 value. We replace the air filter only when the customer provides a replacement.

--These totals exclude the initial evaluation, additional refrigerant, other required parts or repairs, and additional attic labor.--

--Our Cleaning Process--

When system conditions allow, we pump the refrigerant into the outdoor unit to retain as much of the existing charge as possible. We remove and disassemble the evaporator coil as needed, clean it outside the air handler with a biodegradable coil cleaner, and reinstall it.

We braze while flowing nitrogen, pressure-check opened sections with dry nitrogen, and pull a deep vacuum below 500 microns before returning the system to service. Filter drier replacement is included in the full-service pricing above and is charged separately when quoting the coil pull-and-clean alone.

We do not perform in-place evaporator coil cleaning unless a commercial setting calls for it. Or the system is a package unit

-Evaluation & Scheduling-

An initial visit is required to assess the system and determine which services are needed. A $110 diagnostic service call or $180 preventative maintenance service, depending on the purpose of the visit, is charged separately from the cleaning.

Diagnostic service is for equipment that is not working properly. Preventative maintenance is for operational equipment.

Cleaning is recommended based on the system’s condition. A full air-handler cleaning may take 4–12 hours, depending on accessibility, buildup, and system conditions. Attic systems require additional labor and cost more.

If Emergency Refrigerant Recovery Is Needed

If emergency recovery becomes necessary during an on-site pull-and-clean on a residential split system, up to 15 pounds of refrigerant recovery is included. Recovery above that allowance, commercial recovery, and recovery in other situations are charged at $15 per pound.

Recovery charges cover removing refrigerant. Any additional refrigerant needed to recharge the system is charged separately by the pound.

Important Service Terms

Every job is different. Additional parts, refrigerant, or repairs may be needed, increasing the total cost. There are no guarantees on existing older parts or components.

We clean the air handler—not the home. Cleaning the surrounding closet and exterior of the air handler remains the homeowner’s responsibility.

Military members, retired military members, firefighters, and police officers receive 10% off. Eligibility must be mentioned over the phone when scheduling. Restrictions apply. Discounts and offers cannot be combined.

Contact us to learn about this excellent service that helps your heater or air conditioner operate efficiently without struggling due to inadequate insulation. If we detect hot or cold spots in your duct work or area surrounding the vents/where the air is supplied to, we can instantly send pictures to your phone, allowing you to consult with your trusted home insulation expert. Unsure about the quality of your insulation? Confirm its effectiveness by identifying hot or cold spots in the ceiling, walls, or windows. For a limited time, our thermal imaging hvac inspection is available for just $125 instead of the regular price of $175. Choose Five Star Heating & Air LLC for all your heating and air conditioning needs! Note: This is not a home inspection. We only inspect what is needed pertaining to the hvac system. Ceilings around vents can be seen via flir and show hot spots. We primarily focus on duct work inspections and we can spot hot spots around supply grills that may contribute to sweating grills.

Ductless Mini Split Systems

At Five Star Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, we specialize in the installation and repair of ductless mini-split systems. These systems serve as an excellent alternative to traditional HVAC systems, offering energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions for both your home and business. With a high-efficiency mini-split, you can alleviate some of the burden from your main central AC by having a mini-split professionally installed.

Although we are not electricians, you will need to hire your preferred licensed electrician. We will handle pulling the mechanical permit once the electrical work is approved and in progress.

The mini-split not only acts as a reliable backup air conditioner but can also help lower your electric bill—assuming you reduce the use of your larger system, though we can't guarantee specific savings.
